I have done a lot of troubleshooting on it, and I have determined that I need the 64 bit SATA controller drivers, so that XP may recognize my hard drive, and k8bf it can boot off of it and install. After umpteen reboots and swapping round of cables and re-seating connections again and much fiddling around I was finally able sara get the hard drive regonised and installed WinXP Pro, BUT the problem still persists, sometimes on reboot the drive is not regonised and it can take ages of repeat rebooting to finally get it back again.
And occasionally it also freezes during windows and will not reboot properly. The use of ad-blocking software hurts the site. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment.
And a saved copy I made of the BIOS file that was on the board appears to be a different size from either of the two files available from Gigabyte. Motherboard Manufacturer and Model: Sign in Already have an account? You certainly don’t need to have more than one SATA drive.

I went ahead and checked in the manual for your motherboard, which you can download here if you don’t have a copy handy: So I’ve just re-formatted the drive and I’m currently re-installing Windows from scratch, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to regonise the drive okay from now on. Gga it, I have: ChiTang to gemima brown. I’ve tried all sorts of things on it, including disabling the raid settings in the BIOS and re-setting the CMOS, but most of the time it just refuses to boot and hangs at the message ‘detecting the array’.

The problem is that only sometimes does the BIOS regonise the drive, and then boot up okay, but most of the time it doesn’t and I’m not k8n why. Does anybody please have any ideas or suggestions to try to help find out the source of the problem?
